Immigration Voice held a “Fairness and Freedom Summit” in San Jose to highlight the challenges faced by high-skilled immigrants. The Summit was preceded by a rally for high-skilled immigrants from across the nation to come together in solidarity with H.R. 3012- Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act, which focusses on removing per-country ceilings. This rally was family friendly event where members of the community could meet the Immigration Voice team and know more about joining this movement for fairness. Participants in the rally marched peacefully to the San Jose Center for Performing Arts where they attended the Summit.
The summit began with the National Anthem, rendered by Jessica Johnson and proceeded with speeches and Q&A with Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, video address by Congressman Jason Chaffetz and a panel discussion with legislation experts on about immigration. As a tribute to the nation we now call home, the event ended with a rendition of “God Bless America” by Jessica Johnson.
They aimed to send a strong message to members of Congress in Washington D.C. about the unfair immigration system that created long wait times for Green Cards for these future Americans purely because of where they were born.
“When thousands of us come together and express our desire for fairness, we will make our voices heard. Our goals are clear and there is a path to victory. Let’s march together because we are in this together and fighting for a fairer system that matters to all of us. There is nothing stronger and more powerful than honest hardworking people coming together to call for fairness and freedom.” ~ Immigration Voice
